After discovering his passion for colour in the US, Jack has now relocated to London to join Creative Outpost. In this second feature, he discusses international collaboration, the UK creative landscape and the opportunities he sees for storytelling through colour in his new home.
After years of building a career in the US, Jack has now relocated to London, joining Creative Outpost’s Soho team of colourists alongside Mark Horrobin and Alex Nerzic.
For Jack, the move is about more than geography. “It feels like the right moment to expand my world a bit — to take on new challenges, meet new collaborators and see how my work resonates in a different creative landscape.”
He will continue working internationally, supported by CO-STREAM, Creative Outpost’s high-resolution, colour-optimised streaming platform. “Remote collaboration isn’t just a backup anymore. It’s often the most effective way to work. CO-STREAM allows me to sit with a director or DP and other creative partners anywhere in the world as if we were in the same room.”
Jack believes this kind of seamless cross-border work is the future. “Remote grading is here to stay, and it’s only in its infancy. Just imagine how much better it will be five years from now.”
The decision was also personal. His wife, producer and writer Kim Sherman, has several projects launching in the UK, and the couple saw London as an inspiring place to raise their son. “For our family, it felt like the right time. For me personally, I’ve always been energised by the collision of the very old and the very new. Walking around London, you feel history and innovation stacked on top of each other. That mix sparks something in me creatively.”
“It feels like the right moment to expand my world, meet new collaborators and see how my work resonates in a different creative landscape.”
What excites Jack most about joining Creative Outpost is the culture as much as the craft. “Danny and Quentin have built a studio that’s both innovative and welcoming, a rare combination. They’ve created an environment where collaboration feels effortless, but the work itself still pushes boundaries of what’s possible in colour, sound and VFX.”

He sees his cinematography background as a strength that dovetails with the team’s existing talents. “I bring an instinct for how images are shaped on set and that gives me a slightly different lens when I’m in the grading suite. It’s about respecting what was captured while also finding ways to heighten and transform it.”

Jack is especially eager to continue building in apparel, outdoor and fashion campaigns, while also forging new partnerships in narrative features and series. “Storytelling is still at the heart of what excites me about colour. I love working within a brand’s identity, but also finding ways to push the visual tone into something unique and memorable.
“What I love about Creative Outpost’s approach is the way they combine technical excellence with a genuine people-first spirit. Whether it’s a commercial campaign or a narrative project, the focus is always on making the creative process as inspiring and seamless as possible.”
Jack’s outlook on the future of colour is shaped by both precision and adaptability. “Images now have to live everywhere — from big theatrical releases to TikTok campaigns. That makes flexibility essential. But at the same time, precision and consistency matter more than ever. Anyone can make one strong image. The challenge is making a whole campaign feel elevated and consistent.”
As for the tools of the trade, Jack is enthusiastic about recent innovations: “Depth maps, magic mask, advanced skin tools — they’re giving colourists the ability to make high-level fixes directly in the grade. It keeps the process streamlined and creative.”
But ultimately, it always comes back to people. “I hope to bring a fresh perspective and a lot of enthusiasm to this new chapter. For clients, that means thoughtful collaboration and a commitment to pushing their projects as far as possible. For Creative Outpost, it’s about adding my international experience while learning from the incredible talent already here. At the end of the day, the work should be excellent — but the process of getting there should also feel inspiring and enjoyable.”
